Dana Point Turkey Trot Goes Green!

In Dana Point, CA, the annual Turkey Trot is a big deal.  A big deal with lots of goodies handed out each year.  This year, the city of Dana Point has decided to celebrate the Turkey Trot in a much greener way.  The goodie bags, normally packaged in plastic bags, will be handed out this year in reusable bags.

Wales Considers a 15p Plastic Bag Tax

The country of Wales considered a mandatory nationwide 15p per bag charge for all plastic bags used in the country.  The government officials noted that plastic bags use was extremely high in Wales, 480 million bags a year, and that the only way to stop consumers from using the bags, would be to charge a high fee for them.  

China's Bag Ban Means Less Oil Consumption

This article from Bloomberg.com is just one more example of how and why banning plastic bags is good for the environment.  The article notes that China’s ban on plastic bags has reduced their oil consumption by 3 million metric tons of oil per year.
