Can All Cities and Towns Stop Using Plastic Bags?

Posted on Tue, 08/25/2009 - 15:11

As more and more cities and towns across the world ban or tax plastic bags, the momentum against plastic bag use is really picking up.  One blogger in Chicago questions how Mexico City is able to ban on non-biodegradeable plastic bags, and yet a progressive city like Chicago cannot?  At ConservingNow.com we are inspired by all cities, large and small, and their commitment to ridding our environment of plastic bags, plastic bag waste, litter and pollution.  If you look back through our blog entries you will see that cities and towns of all sizes, in all areas of the world, are developing clever solutions to banning or taxing plastic bags, and staying within budget.  The will of the community is also critical.  There are a number of articles this week highlighting the support of citizens and residents who are suing their own initiative to see that their cities and town make a difference over plastic bag consumption.  We are always inspired by grassroots leaders and their work to change our environment for the better.  Together we can truly make a difference!
