ConservingNow Community Change

Turn on the nightly news and there will most certainly be a story about a financial institution in a less than flattering light.  This is not that story.  In fact, this is an incredible story about ConservingNow.com, American Heritage Federal Credit Union (AMHFCU) and its local community.

A few months back, the AMHFCU contacted us with some questions about our environmental teaching kits.  It seems AMHFCUs green team committee was looking for a way to support their community by going into the local schools and teaching students (and eventually their parents, grandparents and neighbors) how to become strong environmental stewards.  At first, we were surprised to be contacted by a credit union.  However, after some discussion, we came to understand how deeply committed AMHFCU was to their local community and much to our delight, we discovered that we both wanted the same thing - helping to create future generations of environmentally responsible citizens.

American Heritage Federal Credit Union (AMHFCU) is a shining example of our partners.  Community organizations and businesses dedicated to not only making the world a cleaner place, but committed to starting locally.  Not looking for recognition or fanfare, instead the AMHFCU is eager to share with local school children the dedication and passion of their employees and their commitment to teaching future generations about environmental preservation.

This is grass-roots work - and proof that one person can make a difference.  Nearly 300 local children will learn about the harmful impact of plastic bags.  In turn, they will spread the message to their families and will keep nearly 150,000 plastic bags out of our oceans, landfills and off our sidewalks.
