Three California Wal-Mart stores are going to stop using plastic bags!!!  Wow!  The company says that this is an effort to gauge public opinion about plastic bags and whether customers would accept paying for bags instead of being handed them for free.  The stores are in Northern California, around Sacramento - I don't know personally what the attitude towards plastic bags is like there, but let's hope its strong.  Wal-Mart is obviously a major player, no THE player, for plastic bags in North America.  It would be so incredible for the shoppers at these three stores to send a message to Wal-Mart that the bags are not needed nor wanted!  Imagine then if Wal-Mart stopped using plastic bags!!  Wow.

Its so exciting to see progress and change on the horizon.  Obviously these are small steps - but they are real and are happening!!  How wonderful.
