Its been one month since the D.C. bag tax and the Washington Post is reporting that the tax is forcing consumers to bring their bags!  In an article last week, the Post shows that with some incentive people are more than willing to bring their bags.  "They are getting used to bringing their own, even if they have to rush back to their cars to retrieve them. D.C. Council member Muriel Bowser (D-Ward 4) equipped her car with blue-and-white bags from Ikea last year. Jim Graham (D-Ward 1) keeps handy a red cloth bag autographed by go-go musician Chuck Brown for quick shopping trips. Many are buying reusable bags at store registers at Giant, Safeway or Whole Foods. Some have watched in dismay as customers have handed cashiers beat-up, dirty paper bags."

The Post is also reporting that neighboring states, Virigina and Maryland, are also considering similar taxes!  Its so rewarding to see people changing their behaviors - and we know that the children growing up in D.C. will never think twice about not bringing their reusable bags!!  At ConservingNow we are so excited for this future!!
