ConservingNow Community Change

At last count, Seattle's voters have rejected a 20 cent plastic bag tax by a margin of 58% to 42%.  Opposition to the campaign outspent the supporters of the tax by 15 to 1.  At ConservingNow.com we were very disappointed to hear of the results.  It is positive to see that already there is chatter on the internet about a public campaign to support recycling the plastic bags as well as encouraging consumers to bring resuable bags.  Until retailers stop handing out millions of plastic bags every month, we all must remain committed to not using plastic bags and "bringing our bags"!
