OMG! What an amazing organization!

Posted on Tue, 03/15/2011 - 10:44

I have said it before and I will say it again!  I love, love my job!  Everyday is a new and interesting day whereby I get to meet incredible people who are passionate about the environment.  More often than not, these are average people with an extraordinary commitment to the planet.  And in most cases, these are people who are caring for our planet as their second job or hobby.  I always mention this becuase in the crazy hustle and bustle of our lives, it is amazing to see that people are finding more time to take on such an incredible task.

OMG is the perfect example!  One more generation is the love and passion of two siblings, Carter and Olivia, who are determined to save the animals - one species at a time.  They are supported by their incredible family, and I will tell you to keep your eye on Carter and Olivia - in addition to what they have already accomplished, they are absolutely destined for greatness.  Their concern for the animals had lead them in many environmental directions, and of course, as plastic bags are a leading killer - our paths were destined to cross.

At Conservingnow, we are focused on the children becuase we understand that if we can teach them to live without our generation's toxic conveniences, our hope for the future will be assured.  Carter and Olivia know this as well.  Their generation will never trade the enviroment for a convenience like plastic bags.  And we are delighted to help them spread their message.

Please head over to their website.  Read about Carter and Olivia and their wonderful parents.  Learn about their campaigns and support their cause!  You will be richly rewarded.

Briefly from their website:

"About Our Founders:

OMG was founded by two students of the Fayette Montessori School here in Fayetteville, GA. The founders are Carter (10) and his Sister Olivia (8.5), who are both extremely passionate about animals and conservation.  They have been adopting Cheetahs in South Africa over the past few years and when they heard that Cheetahs, along with so many other species were close to extinction, they knew they had to act.

They started their One More Generation organization in late 2009 and officially filed with the state of GA as a nonprofit late in January of this year. OMG was just granted their 501(c)(3) status by the IRS in May.

Here is a brief list which spells out just a few of the initiatives both Carter and Olivia have started, which is pretty impressive.

Their goal is to raise $50,000.00 by the end of this year to help support the Ann van Dyk Cheetah Rescue in South Africa who has spent the last 40-years tirelessly working towards helping keep Cheetah’s and other endangered animal species, such as the African Wild Dog, Brown Hyena, Servals, Suni Antelope, and Riverine Rabbits from becoming extinct.

During Carter’s ninth Birthday party (in late Feb of 2010), he asked all his friends to bring donations to his organization as opposed to gifts. He raised $175.00 which he then sent out to all those organizations who were fighting on behalf of each donor’s favorite species.  The lists of organizations they are currently working with include:

Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre in South Africa;

The WWF (World Wildlife Fund) in Washington DC.

Big Cat Rescue in Tampa FL

The Center for Biological Diversity in AZ

Georgia State University in GA

SOS (Save our Seabirds) in FL"
